Boys!!!!

What is it with boys and weapons? I swear, Isaac watches shows like Cars, Toy Story, Baby Einstein, and Signing time. Not Transformers, Star Wars, or other shoot-em-up movies that older boys seem to love. But, he knows just what to do with a sword or light saber. Every stick becomes a gun/sword type weapon, with sound effects included.

In May we went to Southern California for an unofficial Ferkin Family Reunion. Isaac and Fawn's boys found a couple of Grammies swords and the battles began. I am afraid that when Isaac starts swinging, you have to be quick to defend yourself or you'll get whacked. Owen was usually the only cousin who was up to the challenge.

Watch out! This kid is all boy!

Well at least until you get the doll out.

Colin's Second Day

I decided to try a short slide show on RockYou!.com since it is such an easy program to use (uploads really quickly, I already know how to use it, etc.). I hadn't used it in several months and hoped that the glitch that brought up some girl and her boyfriend's slide show instead of mine would be somehow fixed by now. Unfortunately, the glitch has not been fixed.

I guess I will be finding a new slid show sight for sharing the rest of my pictures. Sorry I haven't posted more about Colin and our new family of four.

Here is one to hold you over till I can either create a slide show or find the patience to upload more to blogger. (This picture is proof that I can take a bad picture. :) I just cut myself out of them when I do.

Rain and Lemons!

I know, I have been totally lame about posting. I have been too busy living through a terrible hacking cough cold, and reading about Evan and the 31 Dates of course. If you haven't, start reading!


The weekend before I got hooked on 31 Dates, and the weekend that I got my cold, Flint, Isaac and I took a trip down to Southern California. Flint had his company's 2008 awards banquet in Anaheim on Saturday, but we decided that since we were going to drive down, we might as well add a couple days on each side of that event to visit with Family and give Nanna, Grammy and Grandpa a chance to play with Isaac. Let's face it, they don't really want to see us anymore. The cute little (but quickly growing) grand kid is all they are interested in.

Forest also blogged about our lemon harvest, but since I had a few more pictures I thought that I would add pictures to his post.

We love all lemon juice, but the real fun was getting together with Great Grandparents Ferkin and Forest's family for the harvest.

Winter Colds

I was on the computer the other day and looked up to Isaac at the door, trailing toilet paper behind him. I asked him what he was doing and he started blowing his nose on it. As if to let me know that he was not playing around, he was just cleaning up his face. (I guess he learned a thing or two during this winter cold season.)

He was being so cute both Flint and I were laughing our heads off at him as we took pictures.

He realized that he was causing our laughter and started acting silly for the camera.

Where did you get that tissue anyway? Uuu ohhh, am I going to get in trouble now?

At least he stayed out of the toilet water.

Fun at the Griffith Park Observatory

We spent our Christmas holiday with both Flint's family and my family down in LA. While we were there the weather was beautiful. Well it did rain one day, but when it cleared away, so did all of the smog. The sky was crystal clear! We could see all the way to Catalina, the Hollywood sign and the snow capped mountains. Flints brothers got out to enjoy the weather by going on a mountain bike adventure which looked like a lot of fun, but a little too much exertion for our lazy behinds. We opted to take a scenic drive up to the Griffith Park Observatory to see LA's panoramic views.

Unfortunately, most of LA was on the same wavelength as we were, because Griffith Park was Packed! Not just the observatory but the entire mountain. The road up to the top was a slow stop and go mess. People were grabbing any parking spot that they could find. Even if it meant that they would have a mile or so to hike before reaching the observatory. Flint and I, who were in the van with Evan, Stu and Malia REALLY lucked out. We were nearly to the top, and doubting that we were ever going to find a parking spot, when the car parked right in front of us pulled out! We parked, walked to the observatory, and played around on the lawns, waiting for Michal's family and Mom (in a van about 10 min. behind us) to arrive. Stu broke out the rugby ball and he Evan and Malia kicked it around a bit.

Michal finally called to let us know that the parking enforcement had turned them away because the lot/hillside was so full, so they just had to turn around and go home! Sorry Michal! (If it is any consolation it was freezing up there! At least 20 degrees or more colder than in town.)

We decided to take a quick look around inside, and then spent some time enjoying the sunset and taking pictures before we left.

I guess if I had realized how many pictures I would be taking before I left the house, I would have put a little more effort into my hair and make-up, and defiantly would have asked Flint to shave and brush his hair. Oh well, I guess you can tell this way that we were on vacation.

Isaac's smile is courtesy or Stu and Evan, who stood behind and did the Haka. It is a dance meant to intimidate, but their version makes Isaac laugh out loud.

We even got some pictures of Isaac sticking his tongue back at them.

I admit that for us, who lucked out with a great parking spot, the trip was defiantly worth while. (I'm pretty sure that Michal and her van full of people would not agree.) LA is rarely so clear and beautiful. I would have much rather fought the crowds on a clear day, than had the place to myself on a smoggy day. I guess that is why they have a laser light show inside; for those smoggy days.
